Markings of Sticky Notes and Queries require association with Marking Groups. The markings are directed to specific roles. When a marking created by a Role is directed to another Role for a response, they together form a virtual communication group. This communication group is called a Marking Group in EDC.
Roles belong to a Marking Group as a result of permissions granted to the role for a specific group. When a role is granted permission to a Marking, the system allows the permission to be associated with 1 of 10 Marking Groups. However, another marking that is granted the same permission to the same Marking Group will not automatically belong to that Marking Group.
For example:
Role 1 - has permission to open query 1
Role 2 - has permission to answer query 1, open query 2
Role 3 - has permission to see open query 1, answer query 2
As a result of these permissions:
Role 1, Role 2, Role 3 belong to Marking Group 1
Role 2, Role 3 belong to Marking Group 2
Queries open by Role 1 will be directed to Role 2 for response
Queries open by Role 2 will be directed to Role 3 for response
Role 3 can see queries open by Role 1
