Copy Forms and Fields
[Rate this topic]

The Forms page is the default starting page to begin selecting objects.  This page allows you to select forms and fields to be copied to the Target.

The page displays all active forms in the source.  The active fields for each form displays according to the field ordinal defined in the form.

Copy Forms and Fields

  1. Search for a specific form using the Search function or select forms from the list to copy to the Target.

  2. Click the Plus (expand) to show fields in the form. The Demographics form is expanded to show all fields on this form in the example below. Click the Minus (collapse) icon to hide the fields.

  1. Check box the Form or fields to select them to be copied into the Target. If you select the form (high level element) it will automatically select all the fields for that form. You can de-select individual fields.

  1. To view the form details, left-click on the form name and click the expand arrow to the left of the form name in the details section. The details section will appear.

An Object Status message will display in the bottom pane of the Object Details section together with a description of the availability of an object for copy.  If an object is not available for copy, the message will give a reason and also provide guidance on how to make that object available for selection.

  1. When your selection is complete, tab to another Object Type to continue copying to Target or click Next to confirm selections to finish copying. See Related Topics for other objects to copy.

Form Preview

When a form is selected to be copied using the Global Library, A Form Preview link will appear in the details section for the form.

This link will enable a user to view the layout of the form selected as it is being created in the Global Library. If a different form is selected, the preview pop-up window will refresh with the new form.

Note:This link will only display only if the selected object is a form. If the user de-selects the form, the link will go away.

Reference Objects

The Forms selected or available for copy have associated references that can be viewed in a Reference Details section on the Form page.

  1. To view the details of the form's references, left-click on the form element.  The reference details will appear on the right side of the screen as shown below.

  2. You can select or de-select any referenced objects or check box Select Cluster to select root objects to copy. Select Cluster selects all objects contained in the cluster and not in the target, regardless of whether they are referenced by soft references, or whether they are unavailable because they have unselected references.

  3. To show variable objects, de-select Hide Variables. Hide Variables is checked by default.

Note: Some elements may appear automatically selected or grayed out in the Reference section. This automatic selection of required elements is common to all objects in the wizard.

The following table describes the possible referenced objects and the Reference type for Forms, Fields, and Variables.
